Walmart.com names new CEO

RBR Staff Writer Published 10 June 2014

Walmart.com, the e-commerce division of Walmart, has named Fernando Madeira as its new CEO, replacing Joel Anderson who will leave the company later this month.

Anderson is leaving the retailer to join a new company on 20 June. Fernando Madeira has been assuming the role of president and CEO of Walmart eCommerce Latin America.

Wal-Mart global e-commerce CEO Neil Ashe said: "We've seen Brazil grow twice as fast as the market, while increasing traffic fourfold."

"In other markets, they've leveraged sales and marketing efforts, driving triple-digit growth in Argentina, Chile and Mexico."

Madeira will now relocate to San Bruno, California, where Walmart.com business is based.

The latest move comes after Walmart Canada president CEO Shelley Broader was named as executive vice president, president and CEO of Walmart EMEA last month.

Walmart China CEO Greg Foran was appointed as president and CEO of Asia, replacing Scott Price who was moved to the company's headquarters in Bentonville.
