US retailer Nordstrom to launch Topshop in 14 department stores

RBR Staff Writer Published 13 July 2012

American retail chain Nordstrom has teamed up with Arcadia Group to launch stores under Topshop and Topman brands in 14 of its 117 full-scale department stores.

With this deal, the company will become the largest US retailer to sell a broad assortment of the British brands' fast-fashions in its stores and online, reported The Associated Press.

The Seattle-based retailer also plans to expand the offerings to the rest of the chain. Topshop offers women's clothing, while Topman offers menswear clothing.

The partnership comes at a time when Nordstrom aims for new ways to get shoppers in its store more frequently.

Arcadia Group, a clothing retailer with more than 2,500 outlets, intends to raise its profile of its Topshop and Topman in the US among young customers.

Arcadia Group owner Philip Green said that the firm will be working with Nordstrom to develop exclusives with new designers as part of its partnership.

Currently, Topshop now has 319 stores in the UK with a further 137 international franchises operating in 37 countries, while Topman has 230 stores in Britain and ships to 100 countries worldwide.

Arcadia Group owns high street retailers such as Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Miss Selfridge, Wallis and BHS.
