UK retailer Debenhams opens new store in Indonesia

Published 27 September 2012

British retailer Debenhams has unveiled new store in Indonesia on 26 September 2012, its second international unveiling within a month.

The store is located in the Lippo Mall Kemang offering fashion from global designers fragrance, a cosmetic section and a selection of homeware.

Debenhams Kemang also includes an Alun-Alun section that offers traditional Indonesian products from local antiques and batik textiles to ornate hand fans and jewelry.

The store will also feature a stationary corner.

Debenhams International Director Francis McAuley said that the store occupies 145,312ft² of floor space, spread over four floors - a quarter of the Mall's total space.

"We aim to double the scale of our international business over the next five years and Indonesia's impressive projected growth makes it a key country in the Asian market," McAuley said.

Debenhams Indonesia director Hestiawati Muliani added, "We already have more stores in our pipeline for Indonesia - by 2014 we are committed to open another store in the capital and two more outside of Jakarta."

The UK chain, currently, operates 69 franchised stores in 26 countries around the world.
