Target to open new stores in New York

Published 19 November 2013

Minneapolis-based Target Corporation (TGT) will open two new stores in New York at Bronx-Throggs Neck and Sayvil.

Located near the intersection of Lafayette Avenue and Hutchinson River Parkway and north of the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, the new Bronx-Throggs Neck store will be the third Target store in the Bronx.

Spread over 165,000ft2 of retail space, the Bronx-Throggs Neck store will stock everyday essentials and exclusive Target brands.

To be the 21st store in Long Island, the 144,000ft2 Sayville store will be located near the intersection of Sunrise Highway and Broadway Avenue.

For an enhanced shopping experience, both stores will include Starbucks, Target Optical, and a Target Pharmacy. Apart from offering day-to-day essentials, both the locations will also offer a selection of fresh produce, fresh packaged meat and pre-packaged baked goods.

Target's northeast stores' senior vice president Samir Shah said "The new Target stores will allow to deliver Target's "Expect More. Pay Less." brand promise to even more guests in the area, and continue the chain's legacy of giving to the local community."

Taking the total store count of Target to 60 in the New York City area, the Bronx-Throggs Neck and Sayville locations will employ 200-250 team members each.
