Target to open 20 stores in Canada

RBR Staff Writer Published 05 July 2013

Target is continuing Canadian expansion with plans to unveil an additional 20 outlets in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario by the end of July 2013.

The expansion is part of the US retail giant's plans to open 124 outlets across Canada by the end of 2013. Earlier this year, the retailer opened 48 stores.

Out of the 20 proposed stores 13 are planned in Ontario, three in Saskatchewan and two each in British Columbia and Alberta.

Target Canada has scheduled to launch these outlets over a 15-day period between 16 July and 30 July.

Target Canada president Tony Fisher said: "After opening stores in Ontario and Western Canada, we're excited to bring the unique Target brand shopping experience to additional locations in these markets and to welcome our first guests in Saskatchewan."

Majority of these 20 stores are expected to feature a licensed Starbucks and an in-store pharmacy.
