RBR Staff Writer Published 01 February 2013

Indian department store chain Shoppers Stop has formulated plans to launch 19 shopping centers across the country to expand its retail footprint.

Three of the announced outlets are to be unveiled by March 2013, alongside eight other stores in the 2014 and 2015 fiscal years each.

The chain also plans to open two HyperCity and two Home Stop every year, reported Moneycontrol.com.

Commenting on the developments Shoppers Stop MD Govind Shrikhande remarked that 2014 is likely to see the launch of more than the eight presumed stores as some of the delayed shops openings are also scheduled for the year.

Shoppers Stop is also working towards extending its brand to tier II cities with new stores planned in the size of 30,000ft2- 40,000ft2.

New stores are to be launched in cities such as Baroda, Agra, Raipur and Surat.

The retailer has also planned to open five stores every year under its specialty formats - MAC, Clinique and Estee Lauder.
