RBR Staff Writer Published 08 April 2013

Mega Mart, the operator of Big Mart department store, has firmed up its plans to expand retail network by opening 11 new stores in Nepal in 2013.

Under the plan, Mega Mart will open its new store at Rajtirtha, Sanepa, Nepal in mid-April.

The Sanepa store will be spread over 1,600ft², the smallest in the chain and will stock selected prodcuts.

Big Mart marketing and branding manager Antim Ranjit told ekantipur.com that the store expansion program is part of company's strategy to expand into neighbourhood regions.

"Our aim is to reach out to as many places as possible for the convenience of our customers. This is why we are moving into every nook and corner of the city," Ranjit added.

Mega Mart is also planning to open a store at Old Baneshwor by mid-May. This will be followed by stores in Sinamangal, Kalanki, New Bus Park, Pepsicola and Dholahiti in Patan.

The company also plans to open four big stores in the outlying areas of the Kathmandu valley besides expanding outside the valley. The company aims to open stores in Pokhara and Biratnagar soon.

Currently, Big Mart maintains five stores at City Center, Kamal Pokhari, Lazimpat, Shantinagar and Jhamsikhel.
