Macy’s to open Luxottica’s LensCrafters in 500 stores

US-based department store chain Macy’s and eye-wear manufacturer Luxottica Group are partnering to open LensCrafters optical retail outlets in around 500 of Macy’s stores across the US over the next three years.


The two companies have had a long collaboration which has facilitated the opening of around 670 Luxottica's Sunglass Hut in Macy's stores till now. In the last six years, the companies have tripled the size of the sunglasses business at Macy's.

With the new licensed department agreement, LensCrafter will now be the exclusive optical retailer of Macy's and will be the first optical retail brand to spread in a department store nationally. Macy's will be the exclusive department store to carry LensCrafters shops.

LensCrafters will open its first location within Macy's in April 2016 with plans to open around 100 locations by the end of 2016.
These optical retailer stores will feature top fashion and luxury eyewear from brands including Ray-Ban, Oakley, Prada and Armani, catering specifically to Macy's customers.

Each of the department inside the store will be staffed with a LensCrafters affiliated optometrist equipped with high-end eye care equipment to ensure high service levels.Customers of Macy's will be able to pick from a broad range of frames while enjoying the in-store digital experience that features lens simulators and virtual try-on technology.

As with Sunglass Hut, LensCrafters will enhance the productivity of our stores and strengthen Macy's as a shopping destination."
