Macy’s to open 450 Finish Line-branded shops-in-shops

RBR Staff Writer Published 02 October 2012

American department store operator Macy’s has entered into a new partnership with retailer of athletic shoes, apparel and accessories The Finish Line to open Finish Line-branded athletic footwear shops in over 450 Macy’s department stores.

The footwear shops will be unveiled by the middle of 2013 as leased departments and will also be available at the retailers e-commerice platform - macys.com.

In about 225 of Macy's stores that sell shoes, Finish Line will manage the athletic shoe assortment and inventory.

Macy's chief merchandising officer Jeff Gennette remarked, "We believe the enhanced footwear assortment they will bring to our customers at every full-line Macy's store nationwide, as well as on macys.com, complements our rapidly developing offering of activewear merchandise."

Finish Line meanwhile believes that the agreement will bring in additional sales of $250m to $350m annually.

Macy's operates about 840 department stores in 45 states of the US besides stores in the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico.
